And time went by and the boy came back with sadness in his eyes. "My life has turned so cold," he said, "and I need sunny days." "Ive nothing but my trunk," replied the tree, "But you can cut it down And build yourself a boat and sail away." And so he did and Oh, the tree was happy. Oh, the tree was glad.
Wow, I like it a lot, the tones are amazing (how it is sow dark), and the sky and the floor are really great. What I like the most is a part of the tree, that looks like a fliying bird, (it makes me think about the boy). At first glance the tree didn't look neither happy nor glad, but now he looks happier than before.

The inspiration I got it from a childrens' book of the same name by Shel Silverstein. It is a really sad story, I dunno how can they tell little kids those kinda stories...
Anyhow, I'm glad you liked the pic, unfortunately I can't seem to find the part of the tree that looks like a flying bird (maybe it's my lack of imagination), BUT I DO SEE A SNAIL AND AN ELEPHANT!!! @_@ haha.
It's cool talkin' to ya.

I never heard of that book , but I remember some children books very sad too, like one about a grand father who dies...
Wow, I don't see the elephant or the snake, but i can tell you where is the bird: in the top of the trunk, on the right side, there's like an horizontal splinter... you see it? well that looks to me like a flying bird...
I like a lot talking to you also

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
To help support the Literature community we hold regular contests. It is an opportunity for you to get involved and gain some exposure. Contest winners will be featured in a news article and a journal entry--as well as other fabulous prizes. Please read this article for more information on how you can participate!
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
